Man held for murdering brother-in-law

Sulur Police arrested S. Pandi (38) of Muthalipalayam, near Sulur, on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his brother-in-law Nattudurai alias Natrayan (47) of Arasur, near Sulur, in the late hours of Tuesday.

According to the police, preliminary inquiry revealed that the victim employed as a painting contractor lived with his wife and two children. The accused was a divorcee, working at a construction site, at Muthalipalayam, and is staying at the construction site. It is learnt that on Tuesday night, the accused called the victim to his place. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s wife Easwari, her brother Pandi was booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested.

Two commit suicide

T. Rajesh Kumar (30) of KNG Pudur, near Thudiyalur, reportedly ended his life by hanging from a transformer, in the locality. Thudiyalur police said that the man, who lived with his wife and two sons, was an alcoholic. It is learnt that on Monday he got Rs. 50 from his mother to consume alcohol. He returned home asking more money. He was upset as his family did not give him money.

In another incident, P. Subramaniam (43), of Vettaikaranpudur, reportedly ended his life by consuming poison because his son scolded him for getting drunk and picking a quarrel with his mother.
