Man convicted for sexually abusing minor daughter

The Nilgiris Mahila Court on Tuesday convicted a man on charges of sexually abusing his minor daughter.

Mahila Court Judge M. Sarvamangala sentenced him to ten years of rigorous imprisonment and directed him to pay a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the victim besides a fine of Rs. 10,000.

According to the prosecution, Mohideen, a resident of Nilakottai near Gudalur, had sexually abused his daughter.

He was arrested in December 2012 and charged under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant laws. The case was initially registered at the Nilakottai Police Station and later transferred to the All Women Police Station at Devala.
