Man booked for cheating people promising government jobs

The District Crime Branch of the Coimbatore Rural Police have registered a cheating case against Pollachi resident Perumal on charges of taking money from people promising government jobs and printing forged appointment orders. The police are on the lookout for his accomplice Chandrasekar.

The police said that they had registered a case based on Tirunelveli resident P. Gunasekar’s complaint that based on the assurances Perumal and Chandrasekar gave, he took money from persons who wanted government jobs and gave the money to the duo.

When a few did not get jobs and sought the money back and a few who got appointment orders complained that they were forged, he was forced to lodge a complaint.

The police said that further investigation was on.

One killed in accident

Chittode resident and motorcyclist K. Vignesh (32) was killed and pillion rider K. Sivakami (45) and another motorcyclist V. Vidhyashankar were injured in an accident involving their motorcycles and a lorry on the Pollachi-Palakkad Road in Pollachi Taluk Police limits on Sunday evening. The police said that the lorry driver V. Thangachan (49) of Seraiyakulam drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and hit the motorcycles of Vignesh and Vidhyashankar. Vignesh died on the spot.

Six arrested

The Negamam police have arrested T. Venkatesh Kumar (25), Gokul (25), Manikandan (23), Abdul Rahman(23), Santhosh (20) and M. Hariprasad (26) on charges of intercepting a lorry and robbing a consignment of coconuts weighing over 10 tonnes on Sunday night. The police said that the six persons intercepted the lorry that Villupuram resident S. Manohar was driving, forced him out of the vehicle and confined him in their vehicle and took away the lorry full of coconuts. Later, they dumped Manohar on Palladam-Tiruchi Highway. Manohar reached a nearby refuelling station and alerted his employer Prakash of Chennai. Based on the details Prakash gave, the police traced the lorry to a warehouse. At the warehouse the six were unloading the coconuts and were arrested by the police.

Tasmac staff robbed

Tasmac-run liquor shop employees M. Jegadeesan (34) of Dharmapuri and V. Velusamy of Tirupur were robbed of ₹3.50 lakh that they were carrying home after closing the shop on Sunday night.
