Male foetus found in garbage box

A male foetus was found wrapped in a bag and dumped in a garbage box in Dhamu Nagar in Puliakulam on Tuesday morning.

When residents found stray dogs dragging the bag out of the box, they alerted the police. The Ramanathapuram police conducted preliminary investigations and sent the foetus to CMCH.

Stabbed

A shopkeeper Ponnazhagu (28) in Venkatapuram, was stabbed by a customer Rajan (28) over the non availability of a product in the shop.

The Peelamedu police said that Rajan had asked for a packet of curd from Ponnazhagu. When Ponnazhagu said that there was no stock, Rajan stabbed him. Ponnazhagu was admitted to CMCH. The police have arrested Rajan.

Flesh trade busted

The city police, on Monday, arrested two persons for involving in flesh trade and rescued three girls. The pimps used cellular phones and the internet to lure customers, investigations revealed. The arrested were Sasi alias Promod (33) and Kasivel (32), both from Kerala. The police also seized two cars, six cellphones and Rs. 6,000.

Fake passports

Immigration officials at the Coimbatore Airport detained 42 passengers with fake passports in the past two years.

An official said that they had arrested 29 persons in 2010 and 13 persons in 2011 with fake passports who were trying to board flights or while returning to India. Most of the passengers who were apprehended were on their way to Sharjah and Saudi Arabia. Of the arrested, 34 were from Kerala.

Airport officials handed them over to the Peelamedu police station who have registered cases under the Indian Passports Act.

Special team

Police have formed a special team to nab the accused involved in the alleged murder of a 30-year-old man in Podipalayam, on the city outskirts, on Monday.
