L&T improves facilities in 12 government schools under CSR initiative

Twelve government schools in the district received various facilities under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Larsen and Toubro Limited here recently.

Eight schools in Asokapuram, Vellalore, Pichanur, Chettipalayam, Arivolinagar, Kumittipathi, Kurumbapalayam and Anaikatti got new toilets and drinking water facility, a school in Malumichampatti got a mini-science centre, classrooms were renovated in two schools at Vellalapalayam and Myleripalayam and the science laboratory of a tribal residential school in Anaikatti was refurbished. District Collector K. Rajamani handed over the facilities to the schools at an event held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Asokapuram. R. Murugan, Chief Education Officer and V.C. Arukutty, MLA of Kavundampalayam constituency were present at the event, according to a press release.

According to an agreement between the company and the Department of School Education, the CSR initiatives will be extended to four more schools, the release said.
