District Collector P. Umanath has asked bankers to avoid delay in disbursal of education loans to poor students. At a meeting to review the implementation of the Annual Credit Plan for the quarter, Dr. Umanath asked bankers to process the pending applications for 2010-2011 at the earliest.
During the quarter ending June 30, the disbursal of advances was Rs. 1,320 crore as against the target of Rs. 1,105 crore.
In the agriculture sector, Rs. 564 crore was disbursed against the target of Rs. 372 crore.
In the small and tiny sector Rs. 508 crore was disbursed as against the target of Rs. 498 crore.
In the other priority sector, Rs. 248 crore was disbursed against the target of Rs. 235 crore.
The achievement was 119 per cent.
He asked officials to finalise the action plan in respect of TAHDCO for 2010-2011.
A total of 676 women self-help groups were formed against a target of 1,650.
He asked bankers to speed up the process of disbursing revolving fund for SHGs. SHG federations in panchayats should be able to get bigger loans.
He asked Panchayat Union officials and voluntary organisations to work together in achieving the target.
Dr.Umanath said that of the 208 groups identified for credit facility so far, 42 groups had been provided with the credit.
A total of 183 groups had been provided revolving fund as against the target of 2,870.
Assistant General Manager of Reserve Bank of India V.L. Sathishkumar; AGM of NABARD V. Suresh Kumar; Lead Bank Manager R. Nandagopal; and Project Officer of Mahalir Thittam M. Sundaram; among others attended the meeting.
