A leopard cat was rescued from a 20-foot-deep well into which it had fallen near Dolphin’s Nose in Coonoor on Wednesday.

Forest department officials said that the locals had noticed the animal in the well in the morning.

Staff from the Coonoor Range in the Nilgiris forest division rushed to the spot and managed to safely secure the animal, and released it into the reserve forest.
