Law college students end stir

The sit-in protest staged by the students of the Government Law College seeking arrest of those involved in the Pollachi sexual abuse case ended on the second day on Wednesday.

The demands of the students included arrest of those involved in the case and action against R. Pandiarajan, Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore, who revealed the complainant's identity last week.

They also demanded withdrawal of cases registered against 167 students of the law college for staging a demonstration on March 14.

A circular signed by K.S. Gopalakrishnan, principal of the college, said that actions such as suspension would not be taken against the students who took part in the protest and that the college management would make all attempts to withdraw the cases filed against the students, once the elections were over.
