KJK condemns gauge conversion work delay

October 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:53 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Kongunadu Jananayaka Katchi has condemned the delay in completing the gauge conversion work between Podanur and Pollachi.

Lacks sincerity

In a release, the party said that the railway administration that showed alacrity in completing 54.72 km gauge conversion work between Palakkad and Pollachi and the track checking operation, had not shown the same sincerity in Podanur - Pollachi section.

The party saw a design in isolating Coimbatore as the railway administration had operated trains by skipping the city.

By completing the Palakkad - Pollachi section and delaying the work in the Podanur - Pollachi segment, the plan was to take trains from north and west to the southern parts of Tamil Nadu without touching Coimbatore.

The delay had resulted in the city’s residents who hailed from the southern parts of the State suffering without rail connectivity, it said.

Therefore, without assigning any further reason, the railway administration should complete the work at the earliest – before March 2016, the release added.
