The Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation (RCCF) distributed 8,000 new clothes to 4,125 inmates of 27 orphanages, old age homes and hostels in Coimbatore district to mark Gandhi Jayanthi.
The RCCF, Chennai, organised the function in association with Rajashthani Sangh, Coimbatore.
Services
At the function, Sandeep Mehta, managing trustee of RCCF, said, “The foundation provides various services since 1994 in Tamil Nadu. In order to enhance the service, we planned to distribute about 2 lakh refurbished old clothes to construction workers.”
The new clothes were distributed by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan and Inspector General of Police, West Zone, K. Shankar.
V. Shanthi, matron of Adi Dravidar Tribal Welfare Hostel for Girls in Ondipudur, said, “As the inmates are from poor economic background, they are in need of uniforms and casual wear.”
Thangavel, warden of Adi Dravidar Tribal Welfare Hostel for Girls, Singanallur, said, “The poor students received the new clothes with much happiness and this is the first time these students are getting the clothes from the foundation. Note books also will be useful for them.”
Babulal S Jain, president of Rajasthani Sangh, Coimbatore, secretary of the Sangh, Madanlal P Bafna, RCC president Suresh Gundecha, secretary of RCC Arvind Baheti and chairman of NCS Sanjay Bhansali were present.
