Injured Little Egret rescued

An injured Little Egret (Egretta garzetta), which was found lying near PSG Medical College, was rescued by wildlife enthusiasts on Wednesday.

An injured Little Egret (Egretta garzetta), which was found lying near PSG Medical College, was rescued by wildlife enthusiasts on Wednesday.

An injured Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) which was found lying on the road by students of PSG Medical College in the late hours of Wednesday was rescued and nursed by wildlife enthusiasts.

According to Mohammed Saleem of Environment Conservation Group, Ganeshan and his friends heard a noise and were astonished to find an injured bird.

Following information, Mr. Saleem along with R. Prakash Kumar rushed to the spot and took possession of the injured bird.

The bird a Little Egret commonly found near water bodies of Coimbatore in its breeding plumage seems to have escaped from the jaws of death of a dog.

Both the legs have been broken and were bleeding, he said.

The bird is being given treatment and will be let free as soon as it recovers from its injuries, Mr. Saleem said.
