Inflow into Bhavani Sagar to rise

With 20,000 cusecs released from Pilloor Reservoir into River Cauvery on Wednesday, the inflow is expected to rise at Bhavani Sagar Reservoir here.

On Wednesday morning, the water level at the reservoir stood at 66.75 feet against its full depth of 105 feet. Public Works Department officials said that the inflow stood at 8,660 cusecs while the outflow was 200 cusecs in River Bhavani. The storage was 9.646 tmc against the capacity of 32.800 tmc.

Officials said that the since the Pilloor Reservoir is expected to reach its full capacity of 100 feet, water discharge could be stepped up as rains continue in its catchments. They said that after power generations at the two barrages across the River Bhavani, water will reach the reservoir. “We can expect copious water in the coming days if rain continues,” they added.
