An identification parade to identify persons who allegedly threatened ‘Q’ Branch police personnel at their office in Peelamedu HUDCO Colony in the city in the first week of May (to protest the arrest of Maoist Roopesh, his wife Shyna and three sympathisers last month) was conducted on Thursday.

On June 13, Masanamuthu (21) and Nagamanickam (20) from Vellalore were arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident and were lodged in the borstal for under-trials and convicts aged 18 to 21 years, in Pollachi. On Thursday, the identification parade for the accused was held at the borstal.

On the directions of Principal District Judge R. Pongiappan, Judicial Magistrate-IV, A. Deepa, conducted the parade with two witnesses (public) named by the district judge.

The process began around 11 a.m. and went on for about an hour where the witnesses were individually asked to identify the accused among others.
