If A.Raja, former Communications Minister, had gone only by the rules of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), in the allocation of 2G spectrum “why is he in jail”, asked the former Union Minister Arun Shourie here on Monday.

He was replying to a question from a group of local reporters who stopped him while he was proceeding to Wellington to address the student-officers of the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC).

To another question relating to the scam, he said, “I am ready for any kind of a probe”.

When his views were sought on the latest stand of the CBI vis a vis evidence against Mr. Raja and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran, he declined to comment.

On the Lokpal issue, Mr.Shouri said that he had already made his stand clear.

Earlier, Mr. Shourie visited the Nilgiri Library here and recorded his appreciation of the rare collection of books in the 153-year-old institution.
