Harassment case: Tirupur official suspended

The district administration on Wednesday suspended Radhamanalan, a junior assistant working in the Collectorate here who was detained by the Chennai city police on Monday for his alleged involvement in a cyber crime case in which renowned playback singer Chinmayi was the complainant. Official sources told The Hindu that the suspended official works in the rural development and panchayat raj department and was posted in the office of Personal Assistant (panchayat development) to the Collector in the Collectorate. He was said to have been picked up by the cyber cell personnel of the Chennai city police from his residence at Avinashi. The case that led to the arrest of a couple of persons cropped up when Ms. Chinmayi complained against misquoted Tweets attributed to her and also for making vulgar comments about her mother.
