Gomathi Marimuthu, who won the 800 meters gold at the Asian Athletics Championships recently, said that positive thinking is key to success and negative thinking would only deter them.

Speaking at the release of the book Life Parachute authored by N. Manjoo Shree, renowned life coach in Salem and illustrated by Avanti Natarajan,

Ms. Gomathi said that each person would have a dream. But only positive thinking would help achieve success and negative thoughts would only deter or discourage from achieving the goals.

Ms. Gomathi also said that books like these would help students to gain knowledge and better understanding on various elements of life. “I learnt about many factors in my life only after the age of 20. Such books would help students to gain better understanding of their life at a young age and it would be really helpful to them as they grow up, she said.

She said that no child should face hardship like her. “No child should face the challenges I faced. There are several sportspersons coming from poor background without financial background or nutrition support. Government and society should come forward to help such sports talents,” she said.

A short docu-fiction on the life of Ms. Gomathi directed and conceived by Sherly was also released as part of the event.

Ms. Gomathi released the English version of the book while Hindi version was released by Neerja Malik, a cancer survivor, Tamil version by Sujani Balu and Braille version by Lakshmi.

Ms. Manjoo Shree said the book is for children aged 10 years and above and it would help them to reach within themselves using psychological tools for self discovery for making them strongest and happiest adults.
