Govt. doctors stage protest

Members of Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association staged a protest on the premises of the Government Mohan Kumaramagalam Medical College Hospital demanding hike in salary.

Nearly 100 government doctors from Salem, Namakkal, Erode and Dharmapuri took part. They demanded salary on a par with the Central government doctors in the State and time bound promotions for them.

The doctors said that they would indulge in continuous protests from October 24 and offer only patient care services and would not engage in taking classes or other administrative activities.

They also said that they would stage a 48-hour strike on October 30 and 31 if their demands were not met.
