Farmer seeks water from top of mobile phone tower

March 20, 2012 12:15 pm | Updated 12:15 pm IST - Namakkal:

Kadirvel, a farmer of Elakadu near Irukur in Paramathi Velur Taluk, climbed a mobile phone tower in the village on Monday and refused to come down till officials fixed the pipeline connection to his house that was disconnected more than two months ago.

So far, he had submitted eight petitions to officials at various levels – including the District Collector – claiming that the water connection to his house was intentionally cut by the panchayat president's husband as Kadirvel worked in support of another candidate during the local body elections in the State recently.

About a month ago, he brought his cows to the Collectorate stating that the disconnection of water supply caused hardship to his cattle. Two weeks ago, he submitted a petition to the Collector seeking permission to consume poison.
