Exemption from GST sought for farm implements

May 21, 2019 12:33 am | Updated 12:33 am IST - Coimbatore

The non-partisan Farmers’ Association has urged the Central Government to exempt from GST farm implements and animal feed. The Association made the demand by way of a resolution passed at its monthly meeting held here recently.

The Association’s other demands included filling up vacancies at Tangedco, which, it said, was 84%. The alarmingly high vacancy affected supply of uninterrupted power to farmers. Immediate repair of damaged check dams across streams and canals, remove the ‘other’ category in computerised ‘chitta’ land record given to farmers as Revenue Department officials were in the dark what the other meant when there were only ‘nanjai’ or ‘punjai’ land classifications.

Immediate release of waiting list of those seeking agriculture power connection and early disbursement of compensation for banana farmers who had lost their crops in the recent gale.
