English programme in more institutions

The managers of the Cambridge English Language Assessment plan to sell the Cambridge University’s English language programme to more colleges and schools.

A team that was in Coimbatore on Tuesday told reporters that in the next couple of years, it plans to reach at least 200 institutions in Tamil Nadu to help students gain English knowledge and communication skills.

At present it worked with around 70 institutions.

It was working with deemed universities, State Government universities, engineering colleges and also corporate companies to train students and fresh recruits and also design and develop specific programmes to suit their needs.

Assessment

Though it had not conducted any impact assessment study, it was confident to say that the programme has impacted in a positive way several students. It was also working the Chennai Corporation schools’ students and plan to extend it to the Coimbatore Corporation schools, if talks under way with Corporate sponsors are anything to go by.
