Engineer booked for worker’s death

An engineer in a construction site had been booked after a worker drowned in a water tank located in the site.

According to the police, Balendira Mahatho (36), a native of Muzaparpur in Bihar, was working at a construction site in Saibaba Colony.

The incident occurred on Monday around 6.30 a.m.

The Saibaba Colony police registered a case against the engineer for not providing adequate safety measures. Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been invoked.

Jewellery stolen

Six sovereigns of gold jewellery was stolen from a locked house here.

According to the police, R. Viswanathan (29) and his family were away from their house at Perur near Chettipalayam on June 12.

Upon their return on Monday, they found the rear door broken and the jewellery missing. The Perur police registered a case, and are investigating

Chain snatched

Four sovereigns of gold jewellery was snatched away from a senior citizen here on Monday.

According to the police, M. Dhanapakkiyam (65) of Sirumugai was walking near the Ramar Temple when a person snatched her gold chain and fled the spot on a motorcycle.

The Sirumugai police registered a case.
