DMK demands sacking of Health Minister, DGP

Cadre wave gutkha packets to demonstrate their protest

Waving gutkha packets, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) cadre staged a demonstration here on Tuesday demanding the sacking of Health Minister Vijaybhaskar and Director General of Police T.K.Rajendran whose houses were raided by the CBI.

The protesters, led by T.Senguttuvan, MLA, pointed out to the free movement of the contraband tobacco products.

The protesters also brought an earthmover to level up the potholes affected due to the recent rain.

In Erode, the protest was organised by the Erode South District DMK at Veerappanchatiram bus stand. Its secretary S. Muthusamy and other functionaries participated. They alleged that corruption was the sole agenda of the AIADMK government. They said that this was the first time in the State that the office and residence of DGP was raided by the CBI on corruption charges. They called for replacing the DGP.

Likewise, Erode North District DMK organised a protest at Gobichettipalayam.

In Namakkal, the protest was organised by the Namakkal east district unit of the party.

Former Union Minister and in-charge of the east district unit of the party S. Gandhi Selvan led the agitation. They raised slogans against the corrupt Ministers and demanded their immediate resignation. They also demanded the Centre to take effective steps to put an end to corruption in the state regime.

The Namakkal west district unit of the party also staged a similar agitation near the old bus stand in Tiruchengode town.
