The DMDK staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Monday condemning the recent police action against Sterlite protesters in Thoothukudi.

They raised slogans against the State Government and demanded that Sterlite factory be closed.

Umanath, former district deputy secretary of the party, led the agitation.

A.R. Elangovan, member of the high level committee of the party; Subha, former MLA; Anandbabu, deputy secretary of the students’ wing; Radhakrishnan, urban district secretary of the party; among others spoke.

The agitation of the DMDK was held on the Park Road led by Malathi, secretary of the women’s wing of the party. Vijayan, district secretary of the party, and others spoke.
