Discharge from Bhavani Sagar stepped up

Following increase in inflow at Bhavani Sagar Reservoir, the discharge that was 5,800 cusecs on Thursday morning was stepped up to 15,600 cusecs from afternoon.

At 2 p.m., the water level stood at 101.99 feet against the full reservoir level of 105 feet while the storage was 30.309 tmc against the capacity of 32.800 tmc.

The inflow is 15,597 cusecs while the discharge is through the nine spillways into the River Bhavani.

Officials of the Public Works Department said that the maximum storage level permitted in the month of October is 102 feet while the storage level in November is 105 feet.

Hence, from November 1, water would be stored till 105 feet, the PWD officials added.
