Woman robbed

Peelamedu Police are on the lookout for three persons who entered a housing compound on Kalapatti Road in Peelamedu on Thursday morning and decamped with five sovereign jewellery, a motorcycle, a mobile phone and Rs. 5,000.

The Police said that the three entered the compound of Narayanaswamy on the pretext of renting a house. One of the tenants, Tamilselvi (33), took them around the house. In one of the rooms, the three assaulted the woman, gagged and then tied her to a pole. They then snatched her gold chain. Hearing her struggle for help, her husband Ravichandran rushed to help. He too met a similar fate.

Finally, the three went to Narayanaswamy’s house, gagged him too and left after taking away the Rs. 5,000 kept in the safe. They also took away a two wheeler, the police said. Based on a complaint lodged by Tamilselvi, the police have registered a case.

Youth held

P. Selvaraj of Edayarpalayam, Kuniamuthur, on Thursday afternoon nabbed I. Shajahan of Milekal when the latter tried to flee with his mobile phone.

Based on Selvaraj’s complaint, the police arrested Shajahan. .

Case against four

The Thudiyalur All Woman Police have registered a case against a college professor, D. Praveen Prabhu, 30, on charges of harassing his wife, Lavanya, 25. The police have also included Prabhu’s father Duraisamy, mother Kala and his girl friend as accused in the case, based on a complaint lodged by Lavanya.
