The District Crime Branch (DCB) police have registered a case against a couple on Friday for allegedly forging documents for 11.1 acres and selling it to three persons for Rs. 6 crore.
The complaint was lodged a few days ago by K. Theivanayaki (62), wife of P. Kumarasamy of Thudiyalur.
She claimed that her husband owned 11.1 acres in two areas in Thudiyalur.
He died in 2004 and their son Arun K. Palanisamy (32), a farmer, forged the will and claimed that his father gave him the entire property. He also made a settlement of 11.1 acres to his wife Punitha’s name in 2014, which Punitha sold to three persons for Rs. 6 crore.
Theivanayaki and her daughter Abirami on realising that they were cheated by Arun lodged a complaint with the DCB. A case was registered against Arun and Punitha under sections 109 (abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the Indian Penal Code.
