Contests for school students

District-level cultural competitions for school students will be conducted at the Government Music College on January 11 and 12 by Tamilnadu Jawahar Siruvar Mandram, which functions under the Department of Arts and Culture, Government of Tamil Nadu.

According to a release, the event will be conducted under two categories: junior (classes 6 to 8) and senior (classes 9 to 11). The painting competition will be held on the first day. Participants are requested to bring the painting materials and the theme will be given on the spot. The second day will have music and dance competitions and the students who are trained in Carnatic music are eligible to participate in the event.

The dance competitions will be conducted under Bharathanatyam and folk categories and the maximum time limit for Bharathanatyam will be five minutes and dance on movie songs and group dances are not allowed. The first prize winners will be sent to State-level competitions. For details, contact: 98425 70071.
