Committee to monitor project works

The Coimbatore Corporation will form committees to monitor its project works.

They will monitor the operation, and maintenance of such works too.The ambitious 24x7 water supply project, and the Vellalore compost yard will soon be monitored by these autonomous committees.Complaints of shoddy work under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) has prompted the civic body to form such committees. Officials said shortage in staff had led to widespread complaints. Even after extending the area of corporation, staff strength had not been increased.

In due course, all the works undertaken by the civic body will be monitored by these committees. The committees will be formed in a transparent process. Corporation Commissioner K. Vijaykarthikeyan said that these committees will ensure quality of work, and timely completion.
