Collector inspects EVMs strong room, counting centre

Checks the details of persons who visited the centre

District Election Officer and Collector C. Kathiravan inspected the strong room and the counting centre on the Institute of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT) premises at Chithode here on Monday.

Erode Parliamentary constituency comprises the Assembly segments of Kumarapalayam, Erode East, Erode West, Modakkurichi, Dharapuram and Kangayam. A total of 1,678 polling stations were established at these segments for the polling that was held on April 18. All the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) machines and Control Units used in these polling stations were kept segment wise in each room and sealed. Three-tier security comprising paramilitary personnel, reserve police personnel and police personnel were posted for duty round-the-clock outside these strong rooms that were monitored through closed circuit television cameras. All these cameras were connected to a control room and monitored by officials.

Mr. Kathiravan inspected the strong rooms, monitoring and control room, counting centre, media centre on the premises and held discussion with the officials. He also inspected the entry books maintained at the centres to check the details of persons who visited the centre and also the list of officials who were on duty.

M. Dinesh, PA to Collector (General), Murugesan, Erode Revenue Divisional Officer, Vijayakumar, Executive Engineer, Erode City Municipal Corporation, Ravichandran, Tahsildar (Election) and other officials were present.
