Coimbatore-Palani passenger train flagged off

As part of the launch of ‘Sewa’ train services from Coimbatore to Pollachi and Palani, train no. 56609 Coimbatore – Palani passenger train was flagged off at the Coimbatore Railway Station here on Tuesday.

Train no.56608 Palani – Coimbatore passenger train will leave Palani at 10.45 a.m. and reach Coimbatore at 2.15 p.m. Train no. 56609 Coimbatore – Palani passenger train will leave Coimbatore at 1.45 p.m. and reach Palani at 4.40 p.m. This daily train service will stop at Pushpattur, Madathukulam, Udumalpet, Gomangalam, Pollachi Junction, Kinathukadavu and Podanur.

Member of Parliament P. R. Natarajan, Rajya Sabha MPs S.R. Balasubramoniyan and A.K. Selvaraj, Coimbatore South MLA Amman K. Arjunan, and BJP State treasurer S.R. Sekhar participated in the flagging off function. Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Salem Division A. Annadurai delivered the welcome address.

Mr. Annadurai termed the launch of the train services as a “milestone for Salem Division” as two out of the 10 ‘Sewa’ trains fall under Salem Division - the other one being the Diesel-Electric Multiple Unit train between Salem and Karur, which was flagged off at Salem on Tuesday. In addition, the multi-level parking for two-wheelers at the railway station, which was functional since October 5, was formally inaugurated on Tuesday.

Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal flagged off all the ‘Sewa’ train services from New Delhi via video conferencing. The Coimbatore – Palani Passenger train was flagged off by the chief guests at the Coimbatore railway station following Mr. Goyal’s speech at 3 p.m.

The chief guests in their addresses unanimously demanded for additional train services from Coimbatore to southern districts, particularly to Rameswaram and Madurai.

Pollachi – Coimbatore passenger train

Train no. 56184 Pollachi – Coimbatore passenger train was flagged off at Pollachi Railway Station by Pollachi MP K. Shanmugasundaram and Divisional Railway Manager of Southern Railway’s Palakkad division Pratap Singh Shami.

Train no. 56184 Pollachi – Coimbatore passenger train will depart from Pollachi at 7.30 a.m. and reach Coimbatore at 8.40 a.m. on the same day. Train no. 56183 Coimbatore – Pollachi passenger train will depart from Coimbatore at 5.45 a.m. and reach Pollachi at 7 a.m. on the same day. The train will stop at Kinathukadavu and Podanur and will run for six days in a week except Sundays.
