Coimbatore Corporation will soon lay new roads and repair old ones at 20 places within the city.
According to sources, with financial assistance from the Tamil Nadu Urban Development Fund, the Corporation will lay the roads in Balasubramanian Nagar and Anna Nagar in Ward 56 and Brindhavan Colony, Sreenivasa Nagar and Chellandiamman Nagar in Ward 64 at Rs. 2.62 crore.
The civic body will carry out the second work in Ward 66 in Andal Layout for Rs. 2.22 crore, the third work in Hindusthan Avenue, Raja Nagar, Vasantha Nagar and a few other areas in Ward 66 at Rs. 2.33 crore, at a host of locations in Ward 67, 57 and 56 at Rs. 2.55 crore, in Ward 75 at Rs. 2.51 crore, in Ward 10, 13 and 15 at Rs. 2.53 crore, in Ward 20, 21 and 14 at Rs. 2.84 crore, in Ward 15 and 20 at Rs. 2.57 crore, in Ward 76 and 77 at Rs. 2.44 crore, in Sri Nagar, S.R.S. Layout and a few other areas in South Zone in Ward 77 and 78 at Rs. 2.59 crore, and a few more places, sources added.
The Corporation would execute the work in 20 packages at the earliest because the roads selected had become difficult for use after the laying of underground drainage pipelines.
