CM orders release of water from Bhavani Sagar Dam

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has ordered release of water from Bhavani Sagar Dam into Thadapalli – Arakankottai canal and Kalingarayan canal for irrigation from July 12 and July 19 respectively.

In a press release, he said that based on the request from farmers, water would be released from the dam that would benefit 40,247 acre in Gobichettipalayam, Anthiyur, Bhavani, Erode, Modakurichi and Kodumudi.

A Government Order issued on Tuesday said that 7,050 cusecs water would be released for Thadapalli – Arakankottai canal from July 12 to November 7 to benefit 24,504 acre. Also, 3,456 cusecs water would be released into Kalingarayan canal from July 19 to November 15 to benefit 15,743 acre. The order said that of the total 120 days, water would be released for 80 days while water would be stopped for 40 days. A total of 10,506 cusecs water would be released from the dam, the order said.
