The city police are inquiring a differently abled youth of the city in connection with a bomb threat letter that they received on Thursday.
A senior police official said that the Ramanathapuram Police Station received a letter through post that stated that pro-Maoists were planning to plant bombs in about 10 places in the city on August 15 to avenge the arrests of Maoist leader Roopesh, his wife Shyna and other Maoist sympathisers. The letter also had a mobile number in it. A special team was formed to investigate and the number was traced to that of Rajesh, a resident of Vilankurichi Road near Peelamedu.
A senior police officer said that Rajesh (28), was a polio victim and police are suspecting that someone could have played a prank using his name. Inquiry is on.
