The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will organise the first edition of the National Higher Education Conclave 2013 here on November 29 and 30.
The conclave, with the theme ‘Transformational Changes in Higher Education – Global Excellence through Governance, Research and Innovation’ will be held at Hotel Le Meridien.
C.R. Swaminathan, conclave chairman and co-chair of CII National Committee on Higher Education, told presspersons here on Monday that the two-day event would have speakers from the academia, industry and the Government.
The topics pertaining to higher education that would be covered include policies and expectations, governance and regulations, funding and investment opportunities, enabling technology to improve efficiency, and strategies for admissions. Sessions on assessment and accreditation, research and innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and industry-institute interaction would be a part of the conclave.
S.K. Sundararaman, chairman – CII Coimbatore Zone, said the national conclave, a first of its kind, was being launched in Coimbatore, because of its prominence as an education hub.
The aim was to sensitise decision makers of institutions to the latest in policies and relevant information to ensure they would be able to overcome challenges characteristic of their institution.
CII had circulated questionnaires to institutions seeking feedback on the present education scenario, issues and concerns, and inferences.
The feedback was quantified by Deloitte and the CII-Deloitte Report on higher education with focus on Southern Region would be released at the conclave.
Mr. Swaminathan added that the inferences and recommendations of the Report along with the proceedings of the conclave would be consolidated and submitted to the relevant Government agencies.
