Cholamandalam MS to focus on expansion in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu-based Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company Limited (Chola MS) plans to achieve Rs. 300 crore gross written premium in the State in 2015-16. This is 60 per cent more than the achievement last year.

With 16 branches and 3,000 agents in Tamil Nadu, the company is trying to grow its health portfolio and its strong base in the retail insurance products sector.

Managing director of the company S.S. Gopalarathnam told reporters here at the inaugural of the State Office, on Monday that Chola MS also had plans to increase its overall insurance agent base by five fold in five years and increase the number of active agents as part of its expansion plans.

He said that the company had 10,000 agents across India.

It targeted to increase the number to 18,000 this year and 50,000 agents in 2020.
