Child workers rescued

Three child labourers were rescued in raids conducted by various departments at mechanical work sheds and a fuel outlet here on Wednesday.

Officials from the Child Welfare Department, District Child Protection Unit, National Child Labour Project, Childline and the police conducted raids at work sheds in Thadhubaikuttai and rescued a child worker, who was then handed over to child welfare committee.

The officials also carried out checks at a fuel outlet near Gorimedu and rescued two boys. Officials said legal action would be initiated against the employers.
