Centre ready to support hosiery units: Pon. Radhakrishnan

He was speaking at the diamond jubilee celebrations of South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association (SIHMA) in Tirupur on Sunday.

Union Minister of State for Highways and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan has assured the industrialists that the Union Government was ready to extend every support to keep the hosiery industry vibrant.

He was speaking at the diamond jubilee celebrations of South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association (SIHMA) in Tirupur on Sunday.

He also unveiled a bust of Mohan P. Kandasamy, a former MLA who was the president of SIHMA for 40 years from 1968 till his death in 2008.

The newly constructed diamond Jubilee building of the Association was declared open by Minister for Industries, P. Thangamani, while the new board room for the Association members was inaugurated by the Minister for Forests M.S.M. Anandan.

Minister for Environment N. D. Thoppu Venkatachalam hoisted the diamond jubilee flag of SIHMA in the presence of representatives of various industrial associations, District panchayat chairman M. Shanmugam and people from different walks of life.
