Cases registered against SDPI, BJP members

Police registered cases against members of Social Democratic Party of India and Bharatiya Janata Party for staging demonstrations against each other, in Mettupalayam town, on Thursday.

According to the police, a total of 132 members of SDPI, including 56 women, staged a demonstration in the morning to condemn Mettupalayam municipal chairman Sathish Kumar (BJP) for allegedly not providing basic amenities to the public and poor administration.

Later in the day, a total of 255 BJP cadre, including more than 50 women, staged a demonstration against SDPI, alleging that the party members were trying to create communal disharmony by making false allegations against the municipal chairman.
