Race Course police have registered a case of cheating against a private telecommunication service agent and two others on charges of cheating a person to a tune of Rs 2.10 lakh.

According to police, V.S. Sudhakar of Sai Baba Colony preferred a complaint stating that Raghavan of Sai Baba Colony had approached him promising to get him the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) franchisee and dealership for marketing the products of BSNL in Sai Baba Colony and R.S. Puram area.

Accordingly, an agreement was entered into by both the parties in July 2011 and a sum of Rs 2.10 lakh was paid by Sudhakar to Raghavan.

However, Raghavan failed to keep the commitment in terms of promotional activity, marketing and dealership for BSNL products.

Repeated efforts to get in touch with Raghavan failed, as he had stopped visiting his office in Coimbatore on Sathyamangalam Road.

The complainant also said that Raghavan was assisted by Sriram and Raman.

Hence, based on the complaint that was lodged, police have registered a case against the three under sections 120 b (Conspiracy), 409 (Criminal Breach of Trust) and 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code.
