Case registered against private NEET centre

Namakkal police have registered a case against a private NEET centre here following parents’ complaint that the centre cheated them with false promises.

According to police, the residential NEET coaching centre functioning on the premises of a private college here and was run by M. Udhayakumar (36). Students from various parts of the State took admission here for the NEET crash course offered by the institution and they were charged ₹46,000. The centre allegedly took ₹20,000 as advance payment and over 300 students enrolled.

One of the students complained that nearly 20 students were accommodated into the same room and they were provided with bad quality food. Based on a complaint by several parents, Velagoundampatty police have registered a case against the NEET centre. According to police, nearly 200 students have dropped the course and returned to their home town. Police have registered case under sections 267, 406, 420, 506 (1) of IPC and investigating.
