Case registered against doctor in Gobichettipalayam

The All Women Police Station in Gobichettipalayam has registered a case against a doctor on charges of sexually harassing a technical woman staff at the Government Hospital in Gobichettipalayam here recently.

Police said that the 27-year-old staff, appointed on a temporary basis, in her complaint said that the Chief Civil Surgeon Medical Officer P.T. Anandan allegedly committed the crime on her in the last week of March. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 354 (assaults or uses criminal force to any woman, intending to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment) of IPC and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act, 1998, on March 29.

Superintendent of Police V. Sasimohan said that an inquiry is on and further action would be initiated.
