Camp elephants at the Theppakadu Elephant Camp in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) were weighed and had their health assessed at Thorapalli on Monday.

Forest department officials said that the routine quarterly exercise was completed with 16 elephants being weighed on Monday.

“All the elephants are healthy, including the former temple elephant, known as Masini, which has put on 60 kilograms in body weight since she was last weighed,” said an official, who added that the 11-month-old elephant calf brought to Theppakadu from the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve was still in quarantine, and would be weighed in the coming weeks.
