Bid to loot ATM foiled

An attempt by miscreants to loot an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a private bank at Thirumalai Nagar near Kitchipalayam in the early hours of Thursday was foiled after the alarm went off. Police are on the lookout for the accused.

According to police, when the accused attempted to break the machine open, the Mumbai head office of the bank received an alert message and it also triggered the alarm at the kiosk. The head office immediately alerted Kitchipalayam police station and police rushed to the spot.

Fingerprint experts visited the crime spot and sniffer dogs were also brought to the scene. Police are trying to identify the accused using CCTV visuals at the ATM kiosk.
