Bank officers’ support to slain jawan’s family

The Canara Bank Officers Association handed over a Demand Draft for ₹ 1 lakh to the family of the slain CRPF jawan N. Thirumurugan.

According to association president J. Vanangamudi, the association has 25,000 members. They wanted to reach out to the families of the jawans killed in the Maoist attack at Sukma recently.

Each member contributed ₹ 100, and ₹ 1 lakh was distributed to each of the 25 families.

Programmes organised

Programmes were organised by the association across the country on Sunday to distribute the amount.

In Coimbatore T. Selvi, wife of Thirumurugan, and his children took part in the programme.

“He was with the CRPF in Coimbatore for five years and left for Sukma only last July,” she said.

His son and daughter are studying here and the elder daughter will also join the same school this year, she said.

Four jawans from Tamil Nadu, including Thirumurugan, were killed in the attack.
