Ban on taking bath

The forest department has slapped a ban on taking bath in the Aagaya Gangai water falls on the Kolli Hills to facilitate renovation works.

Aagaya Gangai falls attracts a large number of tourists from the western belt and also from the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The tourists have to reach the falls using 1,300 stairs starting from Arulmigu Arapaleeswarar Temple.

The well laid out concrete stairs leading to the falls have suffered damages causing hardship to the tourists traversing them.

The forest department decided to renovate the stairs and the works commenced on Wednesday.

According to R. Kanchana, District Forest Officer, the renovation works will be continued for a fortnight. The department has prevented the tourists from reaching the falls till the completion of renovation works.
