Bail plea filed for Maoist suspects

Bail petitions were filed for the three Maoist suspects who were arrested with top Maoist leader Roopesh and his wife Shyna at Karumathampatty at the outskirts of Coimbatore on May 3.

The three, C. Kannan (46) of Madurai, Anoop (31) of Kerala and C. Veeramani alias Eswaran (60) of Cuddalore are lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison under judicial custody. It is learnt that the petitions were moved by lawyer B.B. Mohan before Principal District Judge (PDJ) R. Pongiappan here on Monday. The petition has been listed for hearing on Thursday, June 18.
