About 5,000 students from various engineering colleges will be making a combined effort to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by making 1,250 small walking robots - to mark the birth anniversary of former President and youth icon A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The record attempt event is being jointly organised by Idealmindz Foursteps Training Solutions, Chennai, and AET android labs, Chennai.

According to the organisers, the event will take place at CODISSIA Trade Centre on October 20.

Training in robot making will be provided to the participants on the day before the attempt. The robots will be about one-and-a-half-feet to two-feet height and will be made in five different colours – 250 robots in each of the five colours.

A team of four students will be making a robot in about three hours time. The robots will be assembled for judges from the record books to witness the attempt.
