Manavargalin Kalvi Urimaikana Kootamaipu (MKUK) circulated a booklet containing the fees determined by Justice Singaravelu Committee for private schools in and around Pollachi recently.

LKG to Plus-Two

The 16-pages booklet has the fees structure for classes from LKG to Plus Two for more than 70 private schools in that region for the 2015-16.

On Thursday the organisers distributed close to 10,000 booklets at 11 places in the town.

They also gave copies of the same to the police stations, lawyers and staff at state and union government offices.

The booklets were also distributed to public in Pollachi Town and at Valparai on Friday.

Organisers said that MKUK has been fighting against fleecing by a few private schools over the last three years and that their sustained efforts helped ensuring that fees fixed by the government alone was collected in a good number of schools.

“In some schools the managements have refunded excess fees to parents,” they said.

They claimed that schools in that locality even collected Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 50,000 a year more than the government specified fees for LKG.

The pamphlet was to help the parents fight back and get the excess fees refunded by the schools or to at least keep them informed on how far they have been cheated, the organisers said.

Telephone numbers

The booklet also has address, email ID and telephone number of the school education department secretary, director of the school education, chai

rman of the private schools fees determination committee and that of the chief education officer and inspector of matriculation schools, to whom parents could complain about fleecing.

MKUK also extended its support to parents who would like to fight against fleecing by the private schools.
