Arumugam back in judicial custody

Impostor Arumugam, held in connection with death of a student during a fake disaster management drill at a private college in the city, was sent back to judicial custody after his four-day police custody ended on Friday. In the absence of a request for extension of police custody, the Coimbatore Judicial Magistrate V extended his judicial custody till July 27.

Man injured

A brick kiln worker was injured in a wild elephant attack on Friday near Thadagam. The man has been identified as Veerasamy (38). The incident took place when he was returning home through an agricultural field near Veerapandi village. Sources in the forest department said that the victim suffered injury on his hand and was admitted to CMCH.

Youth arrested

S. Srijith (23) of Pudukkode near Vadakkenchery in Kerala was arrested with the jewellery he allegedly stole from a goldsmith in Coimbatore. He was nabbed by the Vadakkenchery police on Thursday. On information, a team from Coimbatore police brought him to the city on Friday and recovered over 400 grams of jewellery.
