The Thudiyalur All Woman Police (AWPS) arrested founder and cook of a home for children from financially downtrodden families as they allegedly forced a 14-year-old girl staying there to watch the adultery committed by them. The girl was forced to watch their act for about a year, resulting in her turning sleepless and loosing focus on academics.

According to the police, the girl was from Tiruvarur District. After her father died the girl’s mother married another man and lives in Tirupur, where she works as a tailor. The couple left her in Mahathma Karunai Illam at Vilankurichi and the girl studied eighth standard in a nearby government school.

Inspector S. Amutha said that the home was run by T. Jagan (45), a resident of Maniyakaranpalayam near Ganapathy. K. Chithra (28), a widow joined the home as cook-cum-warden in 2012. Her son also stayed there.

“For about a year Jagan and Chithra forced her to watch their consensual adultery at the home’s office and at various other places. They also threatened to murder her if she told about it anyone. The girl could go to sleep only around 2 a.m. This affected her studies,” he said. Recently, the school headmaster questioned her for her poor performance in studies and she narrated her harrowing experience.
